"Frenetic Pace," LS defeats Needham 18-3
April 12, 2025
Sudbury, MA - L-S (5-1) put together a dominant all-around performance, controlling every facet of the game in an 18-3 win over Needham (4-2). Dante Venuto and Will van der Voorn led the charge at the faceoff X, giving the Warriors consistent possession and momentum throughout. Defensively, L-S was relentless, swarming Needham in the open field and forcing turnover after turnover.
Fueled by a desire to avenge last year’s loss to the Rockets, LS came out with urgency and energy, setting a frenetic pace from the opening whistle. Two quick goals in the first two and a half minutes established an early advantage. Needham’s Michael Roach briefly cut the lead in half with a sharp top-shelf finish, but LS responded with seven unanswered goals to end the quarter. By halftime, the Warriors held a commanding 16-3 lead.
Brady Malo led the offense with a standout seven-point performance, netting five goals. The goalie tandem of Jesse Rich and Rex Garozzo also delivered, combining for nine saves and anchoring a defense that limited Needham’s chances. A pair of second-half goals sealed the rout and capped the scoring at 18-3.
Looking ahead, LS will face another early-season test at home against Xaverian. The Warriors will then travel to New York to take on national powerhouse West Genesee, followed by a West Coast swing during April vacation with matchups against the reigning prep and public school champions in Washington state.
