LS Falls to SJP, 10-6
May 7, 2024
Sudbury, MA - In a clash between the top two boys’ lacrosse teams in Division 1, Lincoln-Sudbury struggled to keep pace with St. John’s Prep, falling 10-6 on a hot afternoon. The defending state champions jumped out to a four-goal lead and maintained control throughout, extending their advantage to six goals on three separate occasions.
LS captain Peter Rossi sparked a late push with a goal in the fourth quarter, followed by scores from Nolan Martindale and Rex Friedholm in the final minutes. However, the Warriors couldn’t close the gap against a disciplined Prep squad that capitalized on LS turnovers and executed efficiently on offense.
Kaeden Ryan and Drew Laguerre also found the net for LS, but the Warriors struggled to gain momentum against the No. 1-ranked team. With the loss, Lincoln-Sudbury dropped to 7-5 amid a challenging stretch of games, which has included wins over Needham and Reading but close defeats to Duxbury and Winchester.
LS looks to bounce back on the road against Longmeadow this Saturday.
