
Second Half Surge Carries Medfield Past LS

Medfield, MA - Medfield LS their third loss of the season on Tuesday night, pulling away in the second half for a 13-8 victory.
Braeden Sutton scored four goals and added an assist, while Ben Lusby recorded a hat trick to pace the Warriors (14-2), who entered the game ranked No. 1 in the MIAA Division 3 power rankings. Lincoln-Sudbury (11-3), the top-ranked team in Division 1, kept things close early, but Medfield took control after halftime.
After a scoreless start, Lincoln-Sudbury got on the board with two quick goals from Brady Malo late in the first quarter. Sutton responded with a goal as time expired in the first to make it 2-1. LS pushed the lead to 3-1 on an unassisted run from goalie Rex Garozzo, and held a 4-3 edge at the half.
The second half, however, belonged to Medfield. After Lincoln-Sudbury scored to go up 5-3, Medfield answered with five straight goals in just over three minutes. Breslin tied the game with his second goal, then Maverick MacPherson, Sutton, and Lusby (twice) followed to make it 8-5 heading to the fourth.
Sutton and Lusby each scored again early in the fourth to extend the lead to 11-6. MacPherson added his second of the night, while Ian Reddy and Jack Commane also scored in the win.
Malo led Lincoln-Sudbury with four goals. Rex Friedholm and Tyler Deede also scored. LS is scheduled to face Hingham next this Saturday at 6:00 PM.
