May 2, 2025
Sudbury, MA - In a thrilling Top 10 showdown Thursday night, Lincoln-Sudbury returned home from a strong road trip to outlast No. 9 Duxbury, 10–9, thanks to a clutch save by Rex Garozzo in the final seconds that preserved the win. The victory moves the third-ranked Warriors to 9–2 on the season, while Duxbury drops to 8–5, now on a three-game skid.
Tyler Deede led the way for LS with four goals, while Rex Friedholm and Brendan Dooley added two apiece. The Warriors split time in net, with Jesse Rich stopping six shots in the first half and Garozzo making four crucial saves after the break, including the game-sealer in the final moments.
Despite being outshot 34–25 and trailing in possession (51.8% to 48.2%), Lincoln-Sudbury made the most of its opportunities, finishing with a sharp 40% shooting percentage compared to Duxbury’s 26.5%. Faceoffs were a key area, with LS winning 13 of 23 draws. Both teams were evenly matched on ground balls (29 each).
Liam Goodwin paced the Dragons with a hat trick, but it wasn’t enough to halt their recent slide. Both teams tallied 11 saves, and the defensive battle was tight throughout, with LS forcing 11 turnovers and Duxbury countering with nine of their own.
